CMWU Continues Water Network Maintenance Works in Gaza City with Support from the International Committee of the Red Cross
CMWU, with support from the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and in cooperation with Gaza Municipality, continues carrying out maintenance and repair works on water networks in several areas of Gaza City, aiming to improve the continuity of water pumping and strengthen its reach to citizens at the minimum level.
The maintenance works included repairing water networks and lines in:
- Al-Rimal neighborhood opposite Al-Ustadh Tower
- The area opposite Al-Taj Restaurant
- Al-Jalaa Street opposite Kaheel Building
- Around Abu Alaba Roundabout
- Al-Jalaa Street, Al-Zaharna Building
- Street 8, intersection with Al-Majma Al-Islami Street
- Tal al-Hawa neighborhood, Amman Street
- Tal al-Hawa neighborhood, Irhim Street
- Tal al-Hawa neighborhood, beginning of Amman Street, southern side
- Tal al-Hawa neighborhood, south of Al-Mustafa Mosque
It is worth noting that these lines sustained severe damage as a result of Israeli bombardment, which destroyed large parts of the main and secondary water networks, causing service disruption in many areas. Since the ceasefire, CMWU teams have been carrying out an initial damage assessment and identifying priorities for restoring the damaged networks at the minimum level, in ongoing coordination with local and international partners.
