CMWU, with support from the International Committee of the Red Cross, continues to carry out construction works on the Al-Manshiya desalination plant in Gaza City, as part of its ongoing efforts to increase the quantities of drinking water available and improve the level of service provided to citizens, given the current challenges facing the Gaza Strip, particularly after the severe damage sustained by water facilities in the city.
The project includes drilling a dedicated well to feed the plant, and constructing two metal tanks with a capacity of 80 cubic meters each, one to collect the raw water extracted from the well, and the other to store the desalinated water, in addition to installing a desalination unit with a production capacity of about 37 cubic meters per hour, strengthening the Utility's ability to meet residents' needs for safe drinking water.
This project is being implemented as part of the Utility's plan to respond to urgent needs and cover the shortage in supply resulting from the damage sustained by the water sector's infrastructure during the war, contributing to supporting the resilience of residents and displaced persons.
