Funded by the Office of the UN Special Coordinator for Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) through Action Against Hunger (ACF), CMWU began rehabilitating a number of desalination plants north of the Gaza Strip, with the project including maintaining and rehabilitating "Al-Shanti" desalination plant in Jabalia, "Al-Mashrou'" plant in Beit Lahia, and "Khadija" plant in Beit Hanoun, aiming to bring them back into service, which leads to improving water services and supplying residents with drinking water, particularly amid the exceptional conditions the Gaza Strip is going through, as those plants serve a large number of residents in the aforementioned areas.
