CMWU's Director-General Eng. Monther Shoblaq conducted an inspection visit to the seawater desalination plant south of the Gaza Strip, accompanied on this visit by his Deputy for Planning and Projects Affairs Eng. Maher Al-Najjar, the Director of the Supervision Department Eng. Robin Al-Madhloum, Eng. Nasser Suleiman, and Eng. Ali Al-Shayyah, in addition to the representative of the implementing company Eng. Ahmed Mas'oud.
This visit aims to follow up on the progress of the various construction works related to expanding the Southern seawater desalination plant, in order to increase its productivity and improve the quantity and quality of water provided to residents, as work is underway to expand it to reach a production capacity of 20,000 cubic meters/day, to become capable of serving wide areas of Khan Younis and Rafah governorates, funded by the European Union through UNICEF, in cooperation with CMWU and the Palestinian Water Authority.
In turn, Eng. Monther Shoblaq affirmed the importance of completing the Phase Two and Three project of the Southern desalination plant expansion project on schedule, in order to continue improving water quality for the targeted areas in the southern governorates of the Gaza Strip and increasing the number of residents benefiting from this plant.
At the same time, Eng. Monther Shoblaq praised the spirit of cooperation between the work team supervising the project from CMWU and the Water Authority, the project's consultant, and the contractor, and also thanked and expressed appreciation for the European Union's support for this important and strategic project for the residents of the targeted areas, and for UNICEF's role and cooperation in overseeing the implementation of this project.
