Maintenance Begins on the Central Al-Safa Wells in Gaza City
CMWU, with support from the International Committee of the Red Cross and in field cooperation with the Water Authority and Gaza Municipality, began rehabilitating the Al-Safa 1, 2, and 3 wells, which were completely destroyed, in Gaza City. The works include the electromechanical maintenance needed to restore the wells to operation. The Al-Safa well system supplies wide areas and neighborhoods of Gaza City, including Al-Zeitoun neighborhood, Al-Daraj neighborhood, Al-Tuffah, and parts of Al-Shuja'iyya neighborhood, and the number of beneficiaries from the wells, once restored to service, is estimated at between 250,000 and 300,000 residents, with each well having a production capacity of 180 cubic meters per hour.
