CMWU Begins Rehabilitating and Cleaning Rainwater Collection Basins and Ponds in Khan Younis
CMWU began carrying out rehabilitation and cleaning works on rainwater collection basins and ponds in Khan Younis city, as part of ongoing preparations for the winter season, and seeking to reduce the risks of rainwater flooding and improve drainage efficiency.
The project covers the Al-Mujadala basin, Abu Al-Rish pond, the water pond next to the Jordanian Hospital, and the Jordanian pond, in addition to cleaning rainwater drains in the areas of central Khan Younis, in cooperation with Khan Younis Municipality and with support from Action Against Hunger (ACF).
This comes at a time when water and sanitation facilities and rainwater drainage systems have sustained severe damage as a result of Israeli bombardment, increasing the need to carry out maintenance and cleaning works to ensure the readiness of these facilities and their ability to absorb the expected quantities of water during the upcoming winter season, to safeguard the safety of citizens and public property.
