Beginning the Implementation of the Solar Power Plant Construction Project at the Central Sewage Water Treatment Plant East of Khan Younis

CMWU has begun implementing the project to construct a solar power plant "Second Phase" at the central sewage water treatment plant east of Khan Younis governorate, funded by the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development, managed by the Islamic Development Bank.
The project includes constructing a solar power plant at the central treatment plant east of Khan Younis governorate with a capacity of 3.7 MWp, in order to operate the treatment plant for the greatest possible number of hours, especially amid the continuing electricity outage crisis in the Gaza Strip.
It is noted that the sewage water treatment plant in Khan Younis governorate and its attached filtration basins, located east of the governorate, are among the strategic projects that have effectively contributed to advancing the sewage water collection and treatment system, and improving the health and environmental situation of Khan Younis governorate, by ending the suffering of a large proportion of the governorate's residents from the problem of absorption pits and also ending the pollution of the sea coast and benefiting from the treated water by injecting it into the groundwater aquifer.
The quantities of sewage arriving at the plant are also treated with high efficiency, with a removal rate of about 99%, and then filtered to the groundwater aquifer through the filtration basins constructed in Al-Fukhari town.
