Opening the Al-Zohour neighborhood well drilling project in Rafah with a capacity of 60 m3 per hour, funded by the International Islamic Charitable Organization in Kuwait through the Makkah Al-Mukarramah Society.

The opening of the Al-Zohour neighborhood well drilling and construction project in Rafah city was celebrated on Wednesday, 19/9/2019, with the well's production capacity reaching 60 cubic meters per hour, funded by the International Islamic Charitable Organization – State of Kuwait, and supervised and implemented by the Makkah Al-Mukarramah Charitable Society – Palestine, at a total cost estimated at $86,000.
The ceremony was attended by Eng. Monther Shoblaq, CMWU's Director-General, Dr. Hazem Al-Serraj, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Makkah Al-Mukarramah Society, Eng. Bayan Al-Ashi, Director-General of the Projects Department at the Makkah Al-Mukarramah Society, Reem Abu Shomar, Projects Coordinator at the Palestinian Water Authority, Eng. Mohammed Al-Abwaini, Director of the Utility's Rafah regional headquarters, and numerous engineers and workers in the water sector and notables and mukhtars of Ureiba area in Rafah city.
In his speech at the ceremony, Eng. Monther Shoblaq addressed the importance of constructing this well in improving the water services provided to residents of the targeted area northeast of Rafah, particularly with the existence of the recently constructed Al-Zohour water reservoir, funded by the American Agency for International Development, and at the end of his speech, he extended thanks and appreciation for the generous support provided by the International Islamic Charitable Organization – State of Kuwait – and the Makkah Al-Mukarramah Charitable Society for the efforts made in implementing and ensuring the success of this project.
The ceremony also included a speech by Dr. Hazem Al-Serraj, representing the Makkah Al-Mukarramah Charitable Society, on the Society's interest in contributing to solving the water problem in areas suffering from water scarcity, in addition to a speech given by Eng. Reem Abu Shomar on the Palestinian Water Authority's keenness, as part of its strategy for the water sector, to improve the water services provided to the residents of the Gaza Strip.
