Job Announcement

Position: GIS Officer.
Workplace: Rafah headquarters.
Contract duration: One year (renewable).
Application deadline: 29 August 2020.

Job Objective

Managing and following up on the tablet devices system for retrieving meter readings and their status, updating subscription data, and signing up new subscriptions.

Main Job Duties:

  1. Participating in building and managing an integrated database for all departments and sections.
  2. Participating in designing modern systems and applications to facilitate work.
  3. Participating in creating an integrated archive system for all departments and sections.
  4. Designing and preparing colored maps and charts for the various departments and sections as needed.
  5. Following up on and managing the processes of receiving and transferring data from the tablet devices to the servers, and creating periodic and continuous backups while ensuring the data's integrity and accuracy.
  6. Preparing daily, weekly, and monthly reports on the progress of work, including statistics and indicators for quality control of work from meter data and updating the spatial and descriptive data of subscriptions.
  7. Periodically and continuously updating the water, sanitation, and rainwater networks and uploading new projects promptly, in addition to modeling and analyzing the networks and providing advice and consultation regarding water distribution works and the management of sanitation and rainwater networks.
  8. Implementing the GIS Department's policies at the main headquarters and exchanging all data and information and full coordination with it.
  9. Preparing monthly reports and transferring data monthly to the Geographic Information Systems Department at the main headquarters.
  10. Any other related tasks assigned by the Department Director.

Job Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Geographic Information Systems or Geography with a minor in Planning or GIS.
  2. No less than 3 years of practical experience in:
    - Understanding maps and data and handling aerial and digital imagery.
    - Using various ESRI ArcGIS Desktop and Server Applications.
    - Managing geographic databases (Geodatabases).
    - Linking drawings via AutoCAD and connecting them with ArcGIS.
  3. Fluency in spoken and written English at a good level or above.
  4. Ability to work with GIS software libraries.
  5. Ability to write reports and communicate with others.
  6. Good knowledge of building numbering mechanisms.
  7. Good knowledge of computer use and office programs.
  8. Ability to carry out field work in conducting surveys and collecting data.
  9. Ability to work under pressure and within a team.
  10. Applicant's age must not exceed 40 years.
  11. Applicant must be a resident of the Gaza Strip.
