CMWU, in partnership with the Norwegian Refugee Council and with German funding, rehabilitated three sanitation networks in Al-Manshiya, Al-Kasiha, and Abu Shammala in Khan Younis.
CMWU, in partnership with the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC), funded by the German Federal Government (GFFO), and in cooperation with Khan Younis Municipality, implemented a project to rehabilitate and maintain three sanitation networks in various areas of Khan Younis city, as part of efforts aimed at improving sanitation services and reducing environmental and health risks, particularly in areas that sustained severe damage during the war.
The project aims to address the health and environmental hazards resulting from the deterioration of sanitation networks, reduce sewage overflow, and improve network efficiency, contributing to protecting public health and improving the level of sanitation services provided to citizens.
The project works included rehabilitating and maintaining three sanitation networks in the Al-Manshiya, Al-Kasiha, and Abu Shammala areas of Khan Younis Governorate, strengthening the networks' capacity to receive and transport the sewage coming to them from the served residential neighborhoods, at the minimum possible level given current conditions, and reducing sewage overflow and health hazards.
This project is part of a series of projects implemented by CMWU in partnership with the Norwegian Refugee Council, aimed at improving water and sanitation services across the various areas of the Gaza Strip, and strengthening the continuity of essential services while easing environmental and health impacts, particularly given the difficult humanitarian and operational conditions facing the sector.
