A delegation of female students from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Smart Systems at the Islamic University, headed by Prof. Dr. Mohammed Abdel Aati, Director of the University's Research and Projects Center, Prof. Dr. Hatem Al-Ayedi from the Electrical Engineering and Smart Systems Department, Prof. Dr. Ammar Abu Hadrous, Eng. Nael Dukhan and Eng. Amin Al-Khazandar, teaching assistants in the Electrical Engineering Department, and Eng. Nihal Al-Namer, coordinator of the Smart Cities Project, visited the northern seawater desalination plant, as part of the activities of the "Preparing Faculty of Engineering Graduates to Keep Pace with Labor Market Needs in the Field of Energy and Smart Cities" project, funded by the World Bank, in partnership with CMWU, Megapower Company, and Ooredoo Company, with the project targeting Faculty of Engineering students and graduates interested in applying information and communications technology (ICT) to solve energy issues.
In turn, Dr. Mohammed Abdel Aati said that this visit is the second visit made by the Islamic University to the seawater desalination plants, with these visits aiming to inform Faculty of Electrical Engineering students of practical applications related to programmed control systems and smart systems, and for the course's students to benefit from seeing a real practical system that the students can later apply or replicate in the laboratory.
Dr. Abdel Aati affirmed that the visit's importance comes from CMWU being an institution with long experience and expertise in automation, smart systems, and managing modern desalination plants, and this is a wonderful opportunity for students to closely review real practical applications in this field, and these visits are considered a great and real opportunity for our students to review an integrated system of this scale, noting that CMWU is a pioneer in this field and has made great leaps in the last three years in this field, and there is effectively no institution or factory in the Strip operating at this level or with this technology.
The delegation was received by Mr. Mamdouh Al-Ghazali, Deputy Director-General for Administrative and Financial Affairs, Eng. Robin Al-Madhloum, Director of the Supervision and Projects Implementation Follow-up Department, and Eng. Ahmed Al-Rubaie, official in charge of maintenance and operation at the desalination plants, who accompanied the delegation and briefed them on the plant's automatic control systems and got them acquainted with water desalination technology and the plant's control systems on the ground.
At the conclusion of the visit, the delegation thanked CMWU for the warm reception and the detailed presentation of the plant's operating mechanism.
