CMWU installed a desalination plant at the Al-Sikka well in Rafah city, southern Gaza Strip, funded by Medecins Sans Frontieres, in a step aimed at providing drinking water to residents of areas affected by the Israeli war.
The new plant operates with a production capacity of up to 9 cubic meters per hour, contributing to providing drinking water to residents in the Shabora, Al-Sikka, Al-Siyamat, and neighboring areas, whose population is estimated at about 30,000 people.
CMWU affirmed that this project is part of its ongoing efforts to ensure safe water reaches residents, particularly given the significant damage sustained by infrastructure in Rafah Governorate. It also expressed its thanks to Medecins Sans Frontieres for its continued support, stressing the importance of strengthening cooperation to ensure essential services are provided to residents amid the difficult conditions they are living.
