CMWU, as part of the "Water and Sanitation Facilities Emergency Preparedness Program" funded by the International Committee of the Red Cross, installed remote control systems for a number of water wells in various areas of the Gaza Strip, with the project including installing control systems for a number of water wells in Rafah, Khan Younis, Deir al-Balah, Jabalia, Beit Lahia, Beit Hanoun, and Al-Bureij, Al-Maghazi, and Nuseirat camps, with the number of wells supplied with remote control systems during the current phase reaching 40 wells in various cities and areas of the Strip, in addition to 18 wells during the previous phase.
These wells are controlled through a "GPS" system and intermediary messages sent via mobile devices, which spares well operators the risks they might face during emergencies, particularly wars, and this system will also help obtain all the operational data for each well, which facilitates the work of the operation and maintenance teams.
