CMWU signed a cooperation agreement with the German development organization "GIZ" at a value of €1 million, aiming to support CMWU in carrying out emergency repair and maintenance works for various water and sanitation facilities amid the coronavirus pandemic, which has cast its heavy shadow over all aspects of life in the Gaza Strip, particularly the water and sanitation sector.
The agreement includes supplying spare parts and carrying out maintenance works for 20 water wells and 10 sewage pumping stations, in addition to supplying chlorine solution for 6 months for use in disinfecting the water pumped into the distribution networks and chemicals for desalination plants, and the agreement also includes supplying materials and protective equipment against the coronavirus, in addition to implementing training programs for workers in the water and sanitation sector to enable them to work amid the coronavirus pandemic, as well as awareness programs for coronavirus prevention.
