CMWU crews carried out emergency interventions following rainfall in Gaza, Deir al-Balah, Khan Younis Mawasi, and Rafah, using suction pumps supplied by the Red Cross.
From the very first moment the rain began to fall, the teams of CMWU carried out emergency interventions to address the impacts of the low-pressure weather system in various areas of Gaza City, as well as the central and southern parts of the Gaza Strip. The interventions covered Gaza City, Deir al-Balah, Al-Mawasi in Khan Younis, and Rafah, with the aim of extracting accumulated rainwater and clearing stormwater and wastewater networks.
Mobile rainwater suction pumps were also activated to remove flooding from the streets and reopen them to traffic. It is worth noting that a number of these pumps were supplied by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), and they were deployed in multiple locations, contributing positively to mitigating the impacts resulting from the heavy rainfall.
