Emergency maintenance of the main water pumps for Al-Shawka town in Rafah, funded by the International Committee of the Red Cross, to serve about 15,000 people.
As part of the water wells maintenance project funded by the International Committee of the Red Cross, CMWU began carrying out emergency maintenance on the main "lift" water pumps for Al-Shawka town, Rafah governorate, south of the Gaza Strip, in addition to the pumps of the town's main reservoir, aiming to bring those pumps back into operation to ensure the continued supply of water to residents, as those pumps serve the majority of Al-Shawka town's residents, numbering about 15,000 people.
It is worth noting that these pumps pump water from the water wells located in the western areas of Rafah to the distribution network in the town.
It is worth noting that this project aims primarily to contribute to strengthening the capacity of CMWU and the municipalities to provide their services to residents, particularly amid the difficult conditions and weak capabilities faced by water service providers in the Gaza Strip, and providing everything that works to improve water services, which leads to the continued supply of services to residents, particularly during emergencies.
