CMWU crews carried out emergency maintenance work on a number of desalination plants in the central Gaza area, as part of the Utility's ongoing efforts to maintain the continuity of operating water facilities and ensure the provision of safe drinking water to residents and displaced persons.
The works included maintenance of the Al-Maghazi desalination plant, with a production capacity of 40 cubic meters per day, and the Al-Muntazah desalination plant in Al-Masdar town, with a production capacity of 30 cubic meters per day, in addition to maintenance of the Al-Bureij central desalination plant in Al-Bureij camp, with a production capacity of 70 cubic meters per hour, and maintenance of the Al-Shaqaqi desalination plant in Nuseirat camp, with a production capacity of 120 cubic meters per day.
The maintenance works included carrying out emergency repairs, inspecting operating systems, replacing damaged parts, and addressing technical faults, contributing to restoring the plants' operational efficiency and strengthening the continuity of desalinated water production to meet the needs of citizens and displaced persons in the beneficiary areas.
CMWU crews continue to carry out emergency maintenance works amid major challenges facing the water sector, most notably the acute shortage of oils, spare parts, and operational materials needed to maintain and operate water and sanitation facilities, which limits the speed of response to faults and increases pressure on vital facilities.
