CMWU, with support from UNICEF, began maintaining damaged sanitation networks in Al-Shati camp and Al-Nasr neighborhood in Gaza to prevent sewage overflow.
CMWU, with support from UNICEF and in cooperation with Gaza Municipality, began carrying out maintenance works on sanitation networks in the Al-Muaskar market area of Al-Shati camp, specifically on Hisbat Al-Samak Street, in addition to the White Mosque area. The works also included maintenance of the sanitation network and rainwater drains in the North Al-Shati area, Al-Hammami Street, as well as in the Al-Nasr area west of Bank of Palestine, Al-Jam'iya Al-Islamiya Street.
The initial works included removing rubble and opening network paths ahead of beginning maintenance works and enabling technical crews and machinery to access those areas, aiming to prevent sewage overflow and improve rainwater drainage.
The sanitation networks in these areas sustained severe damage as a result of Israeli bombardment, requiring urgent intervention to rehabilitate them and ensure the continuity of service for residents.
It is worth noting that CMWU crews are making intensive efforts in the areas of Gaza City, Jabalia, and Beit Lahia to gradually restore water and sanitation services, particularly after the significant destruction sustained by infrastructure.
