CMWU, in partnership with Oxfam and in cooperation with Khan Younis Municipality, began maintenance and rehabilitation works on the main sanitation line for the Hisbat Al-Samak pumping station in Khan Younis city, which had been destroyed as a result of Israeli bombardment.
The damage to the line caused significant sewage overflow in the area, causing environmental and health suffering for residents, as the station is one of the vital facilities serving more than 80,000 residents of the city and surrounding areas.
These efforts are part of the water utility's and its partners' emergency response to restore essential facilities to operation and ease the severity of the environmental and health crises resulting from the widespread damage sustained by sanitation sector infrastructure in Khan Younis Governorate.
