CMWU, with support from UNICEF and Oxfam, rehabilitated the South Al-Wakala well in Khan Younis, destroyed since the 2024 incursion, to serve over 20,000 people.
CMWU, in cooperation with Khan Younis Municipality, and with support from UNICEF and in partnership with Oxfam, carried out maintenance and rehabilitation works on the South Al-Wakala water well in Khan Younis city, and restored it to full service.
The well is a main source of water supply to the western area of Khan Younis city, serving more than 20,000 people.
It is worth noting that the well had been completely destroyed during the Israeli incursion into Khan Younis city in 2024, causing it to go out of service. CMWU crews began carrying out maintenance and rehabilitation works during the period from November 2025 to January 2026, which included rehabilitating the well, maintaining the pump, supplying and installing an electrical control panel, and connecting the well to the water network, contributing to strengthening the continuity of water services and easing residents' suffering amid current conditions.
