CMWU repaired and restored the operation of the underground electricity lines that supply electricity to the coastal wells belonging to the Central Area seawater desalination plant in order to operate them, ensuring the continued operation of the coastal wells and the stability of water supplies reaching the desalination plant, in cooperation with the electricity distribution company.
It is worth noting that these lines, alongside the seawater feed lines, sustained severe damage as a result of aerial bombardment during the Israeli war.
The Central Area seawater desalination plant is one of the most important sources of drinking water for the residents of the central and southern Gaza Strip, playing a key role in providing clean water to thousands of citizens.
The Utility affirmed its commitment to continuing its efforts to ensure the sustainability of water services, calling for strengthening cooperation to protect vital infrastructure and ensure essential services are not cut off from citizens.
