CMWU, in partnership with the Red Cross, restored the Abu Areef well in Deir al-Balah to service with a new pump motor, serving about 40,000 people.

CMWU, in cooperation with the International Committee of the Red Cross, maintained the Abu Areef water well in Deir al-Balah, central Gaza Strip, and restored it to service by supplying and installing a 30-horsepower submersible pump motor.

The Abu Areef well is one of the central wells in Deir al-Balah, and its shutdown had led to a significant shortage in the resulting water quantity and disruption in the distribution schedule in the Abu Areef neighborhood and neighboring neighborhoods. Restoring its operation restored pumping to the areas it serves according to the pumping and distribution schedule in place, as this well serves about 40,000 people.
