CMWU's Chairman of the Board visits Rafah Municipality to discuss ways to strengthen cooperation and improve water and sanitation services in the governorate.

CMWU's Chairman of the Board of Directors Dr. Majed Awni Abu Ramadan visited Rafah Municipality this afternoon, accompanied on this visit by CMWU's Director-General Eng. Monther Shoblaq, his Deputy for Administrative and Financial Affairs Mr. Mamdouh Al-Ghazali, and the Director of CMWU's Rafah headquarters Eng. Mohammed Al-Abweini, and they were received by Rafah Municipality's Mayor Dr. Ahmed Al-Soufi, the Deputy Mayor, and the Municipality's Projects Director, and the tour also included a visit to CMWU's headquarters in Rafah city, during which he met with the various department directors.
The two sides discussed the cooperation and coordination relationship between the Utility and the Municipality and the importance of continuing joint work in a way that serves the interest of residents of Rafah city, in addition to discussing ways to raise the efficiency and improve the services provided to residents, and the challenges facing the Utility and the Municipality in continuing to implement projects that increase the improvement of water and sanitation services.
Dr. Majed Abu Ramadan praised the efforts made by Rafah Municipality to support the Utility during its implementation of various programs and projects, and the importance of coordination between the technical teams of both sides, in order to speed up the completion of projects and overcome obstacles facing them, as well as the efforts and keenness of CMWU's various crews in Rafah to continue improving services for residents, particularly amid the exceptional conditions the Gaza Strip is going through, praising the spirit of cooperation and high coordination between them.
In turn, the Municipality's Mayor praised CMWU's achievements in Rafah and the noticeable improvement in water and sanitation services with the completion of numerous qualitative projects, which led to improved water supply, sanitation, and rainwater services, and reaching a state of stability particularly during the winter season, stressing the need for CMWU's efforts to continue in order to make the most of rainwater and work on developing the sewage treatment plant in Rafah.
In turn, Eng. Monther Shoblaq affirmed the keenness of the technical crews at CMWU's main headquarters and the Rafah headquarters to continue efforts to achieve a qualitative shift in the services provided to the residents of Rafah governorate, by securing the funding needed to complete work on rainwater projects and develop the sewage treatment plant.
He also referred to the periodic meetings between the Utility's and the Municipality's teams, particularly regarding projects and preparation and readiness for the winter season.
During his visit to the Utility's headquarters in Rafah, Dr. Majed Abu Ramadan met with the headquarters' directors and heard from them the headquarters' most important achievements, regarding various services, particularly water supply, which is considered the best compared to other areas in terms of quantity and quality, as well as the qualitative development in subscriber services, which led to an improvement in the collection rate with the application of computerized public service programs and continuous follow-up with subscribers through various communication means.
