A field trip for the American International School to the Central Treatment Plant in Al-Bureij to review its working mechanism and environmental role.
CMWU received a field trip organized by the American International School in Gaza, at the Central Sewage Treatment Plant east of Al-Bureij, central Gaza Strip, where they were received by Eng. Fareed Ashour, Director of the Central Gaza Sanitation Project, and the plant's operating technical staff.
This trip included a brief explanation of the plant, its working mechanism, its importance, and its great role in improving and preserving the environment, and the trip also included a field tour inside the plant to closely observe its components and the stages of the sewage treatment process.
It is worth noting that this project is considered one of the most important strategic projects implemented in the nation's governorates, as the plant is the largest in Palestine and relies on the latest technology in the treatment process, which mainly relies on generating electric power from the biogas produced by the treatment process, in addition to constructing a renewable energy generation unit via solar cells with a capacity of 3.5 megawatts, which will enable the treatment plant to rely on its own renewable energy sources and thereby limit the effect of the electricity crisis on the continuation of its high-efficiency operation, and contribute to improving the Palestinian environment through the use of alternative, clean energy.
