CMWU teams continue to implement the water well rehabilitation and construction project across the Gaza Strip, funded by UNICEF, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen water services and provide safe water sources for residents and displaced people in areas most in need.
The project targets areas experiencing severe water shortages and high population density, particularly Al-Iqlimi, Bir (19), and the Egyptian Camp in Netzarim, as well as displacement camps in Al-Mawasi Rafah and Al-Mawasi Khan Younis.
The project includes drilling new water wells, rehabilitating existing wells, and carrying out the necessary electromechanical works to improve their operational efficiency and ensure the continuity of water services.
Works completed so far include:
- A new water well in Netzarim – Egyptian Camp No. (18).
- Rehabilitation and maintenance of an existing well in Netzarim – Egyptian Camp.
- New water wells in Al-Nakheel Camp (2), Al-Majd Camp (2), and Ajyal Camp (2) in Al-Mawasi Rafah.
Ongoing works include:
- A new well in Al-Burj Camp, Al-Mawasi Rafah.
- A new well in Al-Hayat Camp, Al-Mawasi Rafah.
- Two new wells in Al-Mawasi Khan Younis.
The project is part of the ongoing partnership between CMWU and UNICEF to enhance water services, respond to growing humanitarian needs, and ensure access to safe water in the most vulnerable areas of the Gaza Strip.
