A delegation from the German Corporation for International Cooperation (GIZ) visited CMWU's main headquarters in Al-Zahra city, south of Gaza city, with the delegation including Eng. Nadeem Malhem, Director of the Renewable Energy Support Project at GIZ, Eng. Ramez Al-Titi, Eng. Hazem Al-Mashharawi, and Ms. Aseel Al-Hannawi, and they were received by Eng. Monther Shoblaq, the Utility's Director-General, Eng. Maher Al-Najjar, Deputy Director-General for Planning and Projects, and Eng. Mohammed Sorour, official in charge of electrical systems maintenance.
The visit comes as the activities of the solar power unit construction project, funded by the institution at a value of $30,000, come to an end, with the project including supplying the Utility's headquarters with a 12-kilowatt solar cell system and inverter devices that can be connected to the general electricity grid to make use of surplus energy, as well as supplying a battery bank to secure the operation of the Utility's laboratory in case of power outages.
During the meeting, Eng. Nadeem Malhem praised the Utility's precision and commitment to completing the project according to the agreement concluded between GIZ and CMWU, praising the Utility's leading and distinguished role in serving the public in the water and sanitation sectors, affirming the continuation of cooperation between his institution and CMWU in the near future in the field of green energy.
At the end of the meeting, Eng. Monther Shoblaq accompanied the GIZ delegation on a tour inside the Utility's headquarters, briefing them on the project's components of solar cells, the battery bank, and the system's control devices, and in conclusion, Eng. Shoblaq praised the German Corporation for International Cooperation's role in supporting the renewable energy sector, which in turn will benefit residents by ensuring the continuation of a better service to the public.
