Successful Operation of the Al-Sikka Water Well in Rafah as Part of CMWU's Efforts to Restore Water Service
CMWU's technical crews managed to operate the Al-Sikka water well in Rafah city, southern Gaza Strip, as part of ongoing efforts to gradually restore water service to the governorate, particularly after the significant destruction it sustained during Israeli military operations.
This well serves several scattered areas, including Shabora, Al-Siyamat, Al-Za'arba, and the Engineers Towers, and is also a main feeder for the Al-Zohour reservoir, which the technical crews are currently working to repair to ensure stable water access for citizens. The Al-Sikka well has a production capacity of 90 cubic meters per hour and serves more than 40,000 people.
The water utility affirmed that operating this well represents an important step toward gradually restoring water supplies to Rafah's residents, and it will continue working to repair the damage and rehabilitate water facilities to ensure service reaches all affected areas.
