CMWU Receives a Delegation from Oxfam to Discuss Urgent Maintenance Works in Rafah
CMWU received a delegation from Oxfam on an inspection visit to the Turkish Mirage reservoir and the Al-Iskan well (P153), with the delegation including Ms. Mariam, Oxfam's officer in Palestine, as part of preparations for the emergency maintenance works on the reservoir and the transfer and installation of a desalination plant at the Al-Iskan well in Rafah Governorate.
The Turkish Mirage reservoir serves about 70,000 people, covering vital areas such as Khirbet Al-Adas and Shabora, and is also a main water source for the Al-Zohour reservoir. The Al-Iskan well contributes to supplying about 80,000 people with water, given its strategic location and importance in supporting water supplies in the city.
The visit also included the Al-Iskan well desalination plant, which will be relocated to serve wide areas such as Tel Al-Sultan and the entire Saudi complex, in addition to its role in supplying water transport vehicles, which work to cover the needs of various areas of Rafah.
This visit is part of efforts aimed at improving water services and ensuring the sustainability of their supply, particularly amid the urgent need to provide water and sanitation services to the governorate's residents after the significant destruction the governorate witnessed as a result of Israeli military operations.
