CMWU Begins an Emergency Project to Support Water and Sanitation Services in the Gaza Strip
CMWU, with support from UNICEF and in cooperation with the Strip's municipalities, began implementing a heavy machinery rental and labor provision project across various areas of the Gaza Strip, aiming to enable the Utility and municipalities to carry out emergency maintenance works according to available capacities.
The project aims to contribute to providing water and sanitation services at the minimum level, particularly given the significant damage sustained by infrastructure as a result of the war, including carrying out maintenance and repair of water and sanitation networks and facilities, alongside urgent interventions to protect shelter centers from the risks of rainwater and sewage flooding.
The project's implementation covers the areas of Jabalia city, Beit Lahia, Gaza City, in addition to the Central Governorate and Khan Younis city, ensuring reach to the largest possible segment of residents and displaced persons across the various areas of the Strip.
The project targets service to residents and displaced persons in those areas, and easing the health and environmental risks resulting from the deterioration of water and sanitation services, contributing to improving living conditions and reducing the spread of disease.
This project comes as a continuation of a series of similar projects implemented during the past period, which have contributed tangibly to strengthening CMWU's ability to continue providing its essential services to residents and displaced persons, and easing the severity of the humanitarian crisis given current conditions.
