CMWU Begins Constructing a Rainwater Filtration Basin in Al-Qarara
CMWU, with generous funding from the Islamic Development Bank, has begun implementing the works of the first phase of the rainwater collection and filtration basin construction project in the Al-Qarara area, expected to be completed after five months, with the project's value reaching $420,000, serving an area estimated at 6 square kilometers in the area.
Eng. Ramadan Naeem, Director of the Projects Supervision and Implementation Department at CMWU, affirmed that this project comes within the Utility's interest in providing the best services to residents in the Al-Qarara area, which used to suffer from rainwater flooding and the submersion of many homes and streets during the winter season due to the area's low elevation, which required intervention to protect residents and maximize the benefit from rainwater starting from the coming winter season, God willing.
Naeem added that the Al-Qarara basin will be built on an area of 15 dunums and a conveyance line with a diameter of one and a quarter meters will be constructed, noting that the basin has other phases to be implemented in the coming period, which include filtration wells, which are expected to contribute to improving the quality of water in the groundwater aquifer.
