CMWU Participates in the Desalination and Water Reuse Forum
Gaza – CMWU, represented by its Director-General Eng. Monther Issa Shoblaq, participated in the forum specialized in water issues "Desalination and Water Reuse to Achieve Sustainable Development," implemented by the Palestinian Water Authority and the Middle East Desalination Research Center "MEDRC," in partnership with the Islamic University and Al-Azhar University in Gaza.
In his speech at the forum, Eng. Monther Shoblaq presented a presentation covering the efforts and projects implemented and supervised by CMWU, as well as the challenges facing the water situation in the Gaza Strip and the difficulties facing the Utility's work, and ways to confront these challenges and turn them into achievements on the ground, as well as the Utility's efforts related to completing seawater desalination and sewage treatment projects.
Eng. Shoblaq also gave a comprehensive explanation of the operating cost aspect for the sewage treatment plant project north of the Gaza Strip, the Central Gaza Sewage Treatment Plant east of Al-Bureij camp, central Gaza Strip, as well as the seawater desalination plant for the southern governorates, affirming that the operating cost will rise even further in the coming period, particularly after adding new equipment specific to these projects, hoping that all the logistical and financial obstacles that might hinder the operation process for these two strategic projects, the largest at the national level, which will benefit thousands of residents of Gaza and North governorates, would be overcome.
