CMWU Continues Implementing the Bani Suheila Wadis Shaping Project East of Khan Younis Governorate
CMWU, in cooperation with the International Committee of the Red Cross and in field coordination with the Palestinian Water Authority, continues implementing the Bani Suheila wadis shaping project east of Khan Younis Governorate, which is part of its plans to improve the rainwater drainage system and strengthen water infrastructure in the area.
The project aims to improve the capacity of the wadis and widen them to reduce flooding risks during the winter season, particularly given the difficult conditions imposed by the Israeli war, through excavating and widening the main wadis in the area to ensure effective water drainage.
This project is one of the important projects that will significantly contribute to reducing the damage resulting from heavy rain, which causes water to accumulate in the residential areas surrounding these wadis, with work underway to rehabilitate the wadis according to technical specifications to enable them to safely accommodate rainwater quantities.
It is worth noting that the target wadis are Wadi Al-Rabayaa, Wadi Al-Rmeidah, and the Western Wadi, with a total length of 10 kilometers.
It is worth noting that CMWU is implementing a group of projects related to rainwater and sanitation in various areas of the Gaza Strip, funded by and in partnership with numerous international partner institutions and with field coordination from the Palestinian Water Authority, to prevent the formation of health hazards and rainwater flooding and ease the repercussions of the destruction sustained by infrastructure as a result of the continuing Israeli war on the Gaza Strip.
