CMWU Continues Implementing the Construction of a Sanitation Network in Al-Bureij Camp

CMWU, in partnership with UNICEF and in cooperation with Al-Bureij Municipality, continues the works to construct a sanitation network in the Block 8 area of Al-Bureij camp, central Gaza Strip, aiming to rehabilitate the network in that area.
The elimination of the sewage pump "Block 8" was completed by extending a 355mm-diameter sanitation line, 800m long, thereby converting the sanitation network in the Block 8 and Al-Sa'aida area to a gravity system.
The works also include constructing a sanitation network and household connections, connecting new houses to the network, and eliminating wells and cesspits that pollute the groundwater aquifer and negatively affect residents.
This comes as part of the project to rehabilitate sanitation networks funded by the UN Central Emergency Response Fund through UNICEF, and the project serves about 20,000 people at a total cost of about $460,000.
The project includes constructing a sanitation network and household connections in Gaza city, Al-Bureij, and Nuseirat, central Gaza Strip, aiming to improve the sanitation service provided to the residents of those areas, and to prevent health hazards that negatively affect the environment and residents' health.
