CMWU Continues Work on the Project to Secure Electricity Power Lines for the Main Water Reservoir in Abasan Al-Kabira Town

CMWU, in cooperation with the Electricity Distribution Company and Abasan Al-Kabira Municipality, continues work on the project to secure a permanent electricity power line for the groundwater reservoir in Abasan Al-Kabira town, Khan Younis city, south of the Gaza Strip, in order to increase the hours of electricity connection feeding the reservoir, which leads to improving the water pumping program feeding the residents of Abasan Al-Kabira town, as the town's residents suffer from a severe water crisis, particularly in the summer season and with the Israeli side reducing the quantities of "Mekorot" water arriving to the eastern area of Khan Younis governorate.
This project comes as part of the "Raising Emergency Preparedness" program funded by the International Committee of the Red Cross, with this program aiming to secure permanent sources of electrical power for water and sanitation facilities, in order to ensure their operation, particularly in emergency situations.
It is worth noting that CMWU had, during the past few months, secured permanent electricity power lines for numerous water and sanitation facilities in various areas of the Gaza Strip, aiming to increase the number of operating hours of those facilities and thus improve water and sanitation services for residents of areas suffering from long water service outages due to the electricity crisis, with CMWU, in cooperation with the Gaza Electricity Distribution Company, having secured permanent electricity power lines for Al-Samer sewage pumping station in Gaza, "Hawaber" station in Jabalia and Aslan 4 in Beit Lahia, the groundwater reservoir in Rafah, and numerous facilities in various areas of the Gaza Strip.
