CMWU Completes the Al-Saraya Water Well Drilling and Construction Project in Gaza

CMWU, in cooperation with Gaza Municipality, has completed drilling and constructing a new water well, "Al-Saraya Well," with a capacity of 60 cubic meters per hour, to serve the residents of the southern Al-Remal area in the center of Gaza city, funded by the German government and the German Development Bank.
Eng. Fareed Ashour, Director of the Central Sewage Project Management Unit, affirmed that the Al-Saraya well construction project came with generous support from the German government and the German Development Bank at a cost of €100,000, noting that this well is the second of its kind within a series of projects funded by the German government to reconstruct the Gaza Strip, through which seven wells will be drilled and reconstructed in Gaza city, pumping 380 cubic meters per hour upon completion of the work.
The importance of these projects lies in providing larger quantities of water to cover the deficit in water supplies and meet the needs of the residents of central Gaza, Al-Shuja'iyya, and western Gaza, by increasing the number of hours of water pumping in those areas.
Ashour added that the grant provided by the German government and the German Development Bank, valued at €9 million, came for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, with the majority of its beneficiaries being residents of Gaza city.
