CMWU Organizes a Training Course Titled "The Mechanism of Operating the Water Meter Testing Device"
CMWU has supplied and installed a device for testing and calibrating household and industrial water meters with a diameter of (1/2 - 2) inches, funded by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), with the device installed at the desalination plant in the middle area.
The supplying company trained a team of CMWU engineers and technicians on using and operating the device.
Eng. Monther Issa Shoblaq, CMWU's Director-General, noted that having a meter testing device at CMWU is a very important step that helps the Utility increase the efficiency of water networks, as testing them leads to reducing the quantity of unaccounted-for water losses, giving CMWU and residents confidence that these meters' readings are a true reading of consumption value, thus achieving global quality and utmost precision.
For his part, Eng. Majed Zaqout, Director of the Electromechanical Systems Development and Maintenance Department at CMWU, affirmed that the goal of the training is to develop the skills of engineers and technicians and train them on using the device for testing and calibrating household and industrial water meters according to international standards and specifications, adding that this device exists only at CMWU, and the Utility will oversee using the device to test samples of the meters installed in homes and factories and retest them after a period of their installation.
Eng. Omar Falyouna from the company supplying the testing device gave a detailed presentation on the mechanism of operating the device for testing the accuracy and calibrating household and industrial water meters, explaining all parts related to the device and how to test and calibrate meters according to international specifications.
