CMWU, in partnership with Oxfam, rehabilitated the destroyed Al-Satar 2 well in Khan Younis (75 cubic meters per hour), to serve 15,000 people in Al-Satar and Al-Israa.
CMWU Completes Maintenance and Rehabilitation Works on the Al-Satar (2) Well in Khan Younis
CMWU completed maintenance and rehabilitation works on the Al-Satar (2) well in Khan Younis city and restored it to service, in partnership with Oxfam and Khan Younis Municipality, after it was completely destroyed during the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip.
The works included rehabilitating and maintaining the well shaft, which had sustained severe damage, in addition to carrying out electromechanical maintenance of the pump, and supplying and installing all the mechanical parts and the electrical panel needed to operate the well. The works also included equipping an integrated room to protect and operate the well, ensuring the continuity of its operation and protecting it from external factors.
The works also included extending a water network from the well and installing filling points to serve the displacement camps surrounding the well in the Al-Israa (2) area, aiming to strengthen water access for affected families and improve the level of service amid difficult humanitarian conditions.
The operation of the Al-Satar (2) well is expected to help expand the scope of service and improve water supply to displaced persons and residents in the Al-Satar and Al-Israa areas, amid the acute shortage of water sources. The well has a production capacity of about 75 cubic meters per hour, serving at least 15,000 people.
