Gaza - CMWU, with the participation of the Water Authority, the Ministry of Education, and UNRWA, celebrated the conclusion of the environmental awareness project for the European Union's projects in the southern governorates of the Gaza Strip, funded by the European Union, in the presence of Eng. Monther Shoblaq, the Utility's Director-General, and representatives from the Water Authority, the European Union, the Ministry of Education, and UNRWA.
In his speech, Eng. Monther Shoblaq welcomed the attendees, expressing his sincere thanks to the European Union, the Water Authority, the Ministry of Education, UNRWA, and all supporters and contributors to the success of this important and ambitious awareness project and all the Utility's projects, affirming that the environmental awareness project in the southern governorates of the Gaza Strip contributed to increasing residents' awareness of the water situation and the nature of services and current and future challenges, particularly among children, who were the main segment targeted by the project.
He noted that the project represents a qualitative addition to the projects implemented by the Utility with the rest of the partners, given the difficult reality suffered by the water sector amid the living conditions the Gaza Strip is going through, with the scarcity of resources and the energy crisis representing a great challenge to all the solutions that would contribute to reducing the current crisis.
Shoblaq also praised, in his speech, the efforts made by the crews implementing this project, expressing his pride and admiration for the paintings and drawings crafted by children's hands, who represent the builders of tomorrow and the rising generation that will be the generation of the desired renaissance and development.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, prizes were distributed for the winning drawings amid an atmosphere of joy and happiness that filled their parents and the attendees, who praised the project and the Utility's continuous efforts with all partners in supporting the water and sanitation sector.
