CMWU Meets with the Ministerial Delegation Coming to the Gaza Strip

CMWU's Chairman of the Board of Directors Dr. Majed Abu Ramadan and CMWU's Director-General Eng. Monther Shoblaq participated this evening in a meeting with the ministerial delegation coming from Ramallah to the Gaza Strip, which includes Minister of Health Dr. Mai Al-Kaila, Minister of Women's Affairs Dr. Amal Hamad, Minister of Housing and Public Works Dr. Mohammed Ziara, Minister of Entrepreneurship and Empowerment Eng. Osama Al-Saadawi, and Minister of Culture Dr. Atef Abu Saif.
The meeting with the ministerial delegation was also attended by representatives from the Ministry of Public Works, the Ministry of Local Government, and the Palestinian Water Authority.
This meeting aims to discuss ways to support the emergency needs of the water and sanitation sector in the Gaza Strip, particularly amid the coronavirus pandemic and the repercussions it has imposed on all aspects of life in the Gaza Strip.
In turn, Dr. Majed Abu Ramadan explained that the need currently lies in supporting the efforts of CMWU and the municipalities in order to continue providing services, particularly amid the shortage of capabilities and the sharp decline in bill collection, affirming the importance of working to secure all materials used in operating water and sanitation facilities, particularly water desalination plants.
In this context, Eng. Monther Shoblaq affirmed the importance and necessity of securing the needs of CMWU and the municipalities in the Gaza Strip, and working to secure an operational budget for water and sanitation facilities in terms of chlorine, chemicals, spare parts, and fuel, and supporting the salaries of employees working in this important service sector, until the crisis imposed by the coronavirus pandemic is overcome.
In turn, the members of the ministerial delegation affirmed the Palestinian government's keenness to secure all the emergency needs of CMWU and the municipalities, in order to continue providing basic services and support all efforts aimed at protecting our people in the Gaza Strip from all health and environmental risks.
