Amid Forecasts of a Stormy Winter Season, CMWU Begins Its Work in Rafah Governorate to Spare Residents the Damage That May Result from Rainfall

CMWU's crews in Rafah governorate have begun their work of removing the rainwater collected in all the governorate's low-lying areas, especially the Tal Al-Sultan area, which is considered the area collecting the most rainwater in the southwestern part of the city, where the emergency teams rushed to use mobile pumps to pump out the rainwater collected near the rainwater collection station known as the Al-Najili station and pump it to the filtration basin located in the southern part of Rafah city, and the emergency teams also worked to clean and clear a 12-inch diameter rainwater conveyance line that transfers water from the Al-Najili station to the filtration basin.
The Utility's crews in Rafah are beginning the process of cleaning rainwater drainage lines to facilitate water drainage and prevent its accumulation in streets and low-lying areas, which hinders residents' movement and exposes them to the risk of water flowing into their homes and damaging their properties.
Out of concern for residents' safety and easing their suffering, CMWU used mobile pumps to pump out rainwater collected in the low-lying streets of the Al-Hashash area and pump it into the sewage lines, despite the Al-Hashash area being an agricultural area.
It is noted that CMWU, as part of its preparations to receive the rainy season, had cleaned the rainwater collection lines to be able to absorb and drain rainwater and ensured the readiness of the rainwater collection station in the Al-Jineina area to receive the quantities of rain falling and coming to it through the rainwater drainage lines in the eastern area of Rafah. The Utility also carried out comprehensive precautionary maintenance for all sewage pumping stations and the old mobile pumps and ensured the readiness of the new ones.
