CMWU announces the shutdown of the seawater desalination plant north of the Gaza Strip, as a result of running out of the "antiscalant" material needed for the seawater desalination process, as the Israeli side still prevents its entry into the Gaza Strip, particularly after the recent Israeli aggression, which has led to a water cutoff for the areas benefiting from it in Gaza city, particularly during the summer season and the essential need for water, as the plant serves about 200,000 residents of the western neighborhoods of Gaza city.
CMWU also appeals to the international community and all international organizations, particularly humanitarian ones, to pressure the Israeli side to allow this material in, to restart this plant and prevent the shutdown of the remaining plants, expected within the next few days.
It is worth noting that the continuing occupation prevention of the entry of this important and necessary material in the desalination process will lead to the shutdown of the Central and Southern seawater desalination plants, which will negatively affect the water service for a wide segment of the residents of the western areas of the Gaza Strip.
