CMWU Holds an Awareness Session on Occupational Health and Safety Procedures.
Rafah - CMWU, through its Occupational Safety Department and in cooperation with the Democracy and Workers' Rights Center, held an awareness session for a number of employees on occupational health and safety procedures, avoiding potential risks while working, and the legal dimensions of these procedures.
The session was held in the meeting hall at CMWU's headquarters in Rafah, and targeted workers at sewage stations, including engineers, monitors, and maintenance technicians at the Utility, with this awareness session coming as part of the project to strengthen workers' rights in occupational health and safety, funded by the Catholic Agency for Development Cooperation KZE.
In turn, Eng. Ashraf Ghanem, Director of the Occupational Safety Department at CMWU, affirmed the importance of this session in familiarizing and raising employees' awareness of all potential health and legal risks while working and the necessity of taking occupational health and safety measures, noting that this session comes as part of CMWU's continuous efforts to raise awareness among its employees regarding occupational health and safety, given the fundamental right it represents and its great importance for all workers, particularly since the nature of work at the Utility involves numerous procedures that greatly need occupational health and safety measures to avoid any potential harm or risks.
Eng. Firas Abu Nqira, Director of the Utility's regional headquarters in Rafah, also extended sincere thanks to the Democracy and Workers' Rights Center for their effort and cooperation with CMWU in organizing this fruitful and constructive meeting, which had a great impact in raising employees' awareness of their fundamental rights related to occupational health and safety, affirming the continuation of efforts to hold more workshops, courses, and awareness sessions in the coming days.
It is worth noting that CMWU recently held several training programs specific to workers' rights and occupational health and safety issues, in cooperation with the International Committee of the Red Cross, Civil Defense, and a number of bodies and partners interested in this aspect.
