CMWU and Operation Al-Fares Al-Shahm 3 Begin Drilling a Water Well in Deir al-Balah with Emirati Support to Serve Residents and Displaced Persons
CMWU, in cooperation with Operation Al-Fares Al-Shahm 3 and Deir al-Balah Municipality, and with support from the United Arab Emirates, began implementing a project to drill a water well in Deir al-Balah city, specifically in the Hakr Al-Jame' area, aiming to serve the city's residents and its displaced persons, with more than 20,000 people expected to benefit from this project.
This well is being drilled at a time when Deir al-Balah city is suffering from an acute shortage of water sources, particularly after a number of water wells in the eastern areas of the city went out of service as a result of Israeli military operations, and with the continued cutoff of the main Mekorot water line feeding the Central Governorate for more than four months, which has worsened residents' suffering and increased the severity of the humanitarian crisis in the area.
This project is part of a broader initiative aimed at drilling and equipping water wells in the Gaza Strip, as part of efforts to ease the worsening water crisis. The first phase of the project includes drilling two wells in Deir al-Balah and Khan Younis cities, to provide sustainable water sources and improve the level of access to clean water.
