Stemming from its social responsibility and in its keenness on the safety of workers in the water and sanitation sector in the Gaza Strip and in preserving water and sanitation facilities and installations, CMWU, funded by the Norwegian Refugee Council, distributed protective clothing, vests, and gloves to the Strip's municipalities, to later be distributed to workers in the water and sanitation sector, numbering 1,300 employees and workers, in addition to alcohol-based disinfectants, cleaning and disinfection materials, chlorine solution, and containers and sprayers for disinfection, to the Strip's municipalities, in order to disinfect and sanitize water and sanitation facilities and treatment plants.

This step comes as a precautionary and preventive measure to confront the globally spreading coronavirus, following up on the bulletins issued by the Water Authority and CMWU and circulated to workers in water and sanitation services at CMWU and the municipalities regarding the steps that must be followed to confront the coronavirus pandemic and protect individuals and facilities from any sources of contamination and infection, such as disinfecting water and sanitizing water facilities and protecting them from contamination, in line with the World Health Organization's publications and instructions on the matter.
