CMWU participated with two working papers in the activities of the first community development conference in the eastern area of Khan Younis governorate, south of the Gaza Strip, titled "The Eastern Area Between Reality and Challenges", organized by a group of civil society institutions over two days, in the presence of a group of mayors and representatives of government, civil, and private institutions, and a group of media professionals.
Eng. Mo'taz Abu Al-Qumbuz from CMWU presented the first working paper on the reality of water and sanitation in the eastern area and the strategic vision for advancing the water and sanitation situation in the eastern area and the proposed projects and the projects implemented in the eastern area, while Eng. Yahya Abu Obeid from CMWU participated with the second working paper on the sewage treatment plant project east of the governorate, the project's phases and the elements it consists of, in addition to the obstacles and the mechanism for overcoming them.
It is worth noting that the conference included 23 working papers across seven sessions covering various fields of life in the Gaza Strip in general and the eastern area of Khan Younis governorate in particular, covering the fields of health, education, agriculture, youth and unemployment issues, sanitation, the role of women in community development, and integrating people with disabilities into society.
At the conclusion of the conference's activities, the researchers recommended a set of recommendations, the most important of which was forming a supreme council for development in the eastern area as a strategic partnership between institutions, representatives of the municipalities, and community elites, to contribute to proposing and following up on the implementation of development programs in all fields.
