Minister Ghanem Arrives in the Gaza Strip to Inspect Water and Sanitation Projects

Water Authority Chairman Minister Mazen Ghanem, during his visit to the Gaza Strip, conducted an inspection tour during which he visited the seawater desalination plant project in Gaza, whose foundation stone was laid in 2017, and reviewed the plant's trial operation process by CMWU, which began 5 months ago with a production capacity reaching 10,000 cubic meters daily, in preparation for its official opening soon.
Minister Ghanem and his accompanying delegation were received by Eng. Monther Shoblaq, CMWU's Director-General, and the Utility's department directors.
During Minister Ghanem's tour of the desalination plant, he listened to a brief explanation from Eng. Omar Shatat, Deputy Director-General for Technical Affairs, on the plant's various operating stages and its mechanism of desalinating seawater as one of the strategic solutions to improve water quality for the residents of the Gaza Strip, who suffer from the deterioration of their water sources.
It is expected that activities of the project to construct the central desalination plant, funded by some international donor institutions and managed by the Palestinian Water Authority, will begin during the coming year.
