CMWU Opens a New Water Well in Wadi Al-Salqa

CMWU, in cooperation with Wadi Al-Salqa Municipality, opened a new water well in the area, with generous funding from Human Appeal UK, in the presence of Dr. Wael Abdel-Aal, Director of Human Appeal's Gaza office, Eng. Hassan Barak, Director of the Utility's middle-area headquarters, Eng. Ramadan Naeem, Director of the Projects Supervision Department at CMWU, and members of the municipal council.
Eng. Hassan Barak affirmed that the new well construction project in Wadi Al-Salqa came after a long period during which the town suffered from having only one water source, which is always at risk due to its proximity to the eastern border.
Barak explained that after the last war, the Utility has developed a direction to build wells far from the border area to use them in emergencies and not leave residents without water, as water was cut off during the last war for about a month or more before the Utility was able to repair the only well.
Barak explained that this project is the first fruit of cooperation between CMWU and Human Appeal, hoping that this good institution's giving would continue in helping this town and other Palestinian towns suffering from the siege.
For his part, Wael Abdel-Aal explained that this project comes within the priorities of Human Appeal to support the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, especially since the water situation in the Gaza Strip is deteriorating and portends a real catastrophe in the future.
He pointed out that the inauguration of the Wadi Al-Salqa water well comes in response to the area's dire need for water, as this well will serve the area's residents, numbering about ten thousand, and will pump enough water to meet all their needs, explaining that the project will increase the quantity of water produced, contributing to improving water services.
For his part, Yahya Abu Sleisel, representative of the Mayor of Wadi Al-Salqa, expressed his thanks and gratitude to Human Appeal and CMWU for this project, which will serve and deliver water to ten thousand of the area's residents, especially after the occupation forces destroyed the only well.
