CMWU Begins Implementing the Works of a Desalination Plant Construction Project at Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza

CMWU has begun the first phase of the desalination plant construction project at Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza by handing over the work site to the contracting company, in the presence of representatives of Human Appeal and the Palestinian Ministry of Health.
This project comes within the framework of the projects implemented by CMWU in cooperation with Human Appeal to improve water services and supplies in the Gaza Strip, and the project also comes in the context of CMWU's continued support for Al-Shifa Hospital in order to secure the hospital's needs for water suitable for the different departments' uses, serving an important segment of residents.
The project includes building and installing a desalination plant to improve the quality and quantity of water supplied to the hospital, as the water currently supplied to the hospital has a high salinity rate and negatively affects most of the medical equipment used there, especially the dialysis unit department.
Eng. Ramadan Naeem, Director of the Projects Supervision Department, pointed out that the desalination plant construction project at Al-Shifa Hospital is expected to be completed within six months, with a production capacity of 500 cubic meters per day, to be distributed to all the hospital's facilities so that good-quality water reaches all departments.
Naeem added that given the negative impact of the high-salinity water currently reaching the hospital on the distribution lines to the tanks inside the hospital, the project also contributes to preserving the water networks and equipment inside the hospital.
