Repair and Maintenance Projects for Numerous Water and Sanitation Networks in the Southern and Middle Areas of the Strip
CMWU - Gaza
Within the framework of CMWU's efforts to reconstruct water and sanitation facilities destroyed during the aggression on the Gaza Strip, in cooperation with partner and donor institutions, CMWU, funded by UNICEF, began implementing several repair and maintenance projects for water and sanitation networks destroyed by the occupation in the southern area and the middle area due to the attacks on the Gaza Strip during the 2014 aggression on the Strip.
The total cost of those projects is $400,000, aiming to restore those networks to operation and improve water supplies provided to residents in the targeted areas, with network efficiency expected to increase by no less than 3%.
In the middle area, CMWU is implementing several works worth $200,000, including constructing water networks to replace those destroyed during the war in the Wadi Al-Salqa area, to be connected to the new Wadi Al-Salqa water well funded by Islamic Relief, in addition to constructing 12-inch diameter water networks in various areas of the town and constructing 4-inch diameter water networks at the source, 500 meters long.
The project also includes repairing sewage networks east of Deir al-Balah city, which will serve the factories area in addition to Al-Shuhada Street and its branch streets, and the project also includes installing 400 household meters in various areas of the middle governorate and constructing absorption pits east of Salah Al-Din Street to replace those destroyed by Israeli attacks, with all these works being repairs of what the occupation destroyed during the aggression.
In Rafah governorate south of the Strip, CMWU is implementing several works worth $200,000 for facilities damaged during the aggression, including maintaining sewage networks in Rafah city in Tal Al-Sultan, Al-Jineina, Taha Hussein Street, and the Al-Siyamat area, 1,900 meters long, and the project's works also include maintaining water networks in the Al-Shawka area, 1,300 meters long, benefiting 4,000 residents, and maintaining water networks in the Bahraini neighborhood, benefiting 1,500 residents, and water networks of various diameters in Al-Fukhari, 700 meters long, benefiting 500 residents.
In the southern governorate as well, the project's works include installing 300 water meters and household connections in Bani Suheila and the eastern villages.
