CMWU, funded by UNICEF, continues repairing the damaged sanitation system in Khan Younis by cleaning stations and manholes.
As a continuation and completion of its ongoing efforts to repair the sanitation system in Khan Younis Governorate, CMWU, funded by UNICEF and in cooperation with Khan Younis Municipality, continues implementing a project to repair the sanitation system damaged as a result of the Israeli war and repeated bombardment of residential areas in various parts of the city.
This comes as part of a general project to maintain and rehabilitate sanitation networks in the governorate, with support from UNICEF, which includes cleaning sanitation stations and the collection pools within them, and renting equipment and machinery to maintain the sanitation system in various parts of Khan Younis, as well as supplying materials related to emergency maintenance works.
As part of the project, sanitation manholes will be cleaned and manholes and concrete covers installed, as well as new pipes laid to replace destroyed ones, in order to ease the health repercussions resulting from sewage overflow and the spread of health hazards and reduce them as much as possible.
It is worth noting that water and sanitation facilities in Khan Younis Governorate sustained significant destruction as a result of the military operations the governorate witnessed during the current year, causing many facilities to go out of service.
